What items are required to be tested in the Amazon European website decoration quality inspection report and what test standards are used?
When selling on Amazon, you need to ensure compliance with Regulation (EC) No 2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) . Under REACH , goods ( i.e. finished products ) cannot be sold if they contain more than the limit of certain chemicals , such as heavy metals . See the help page for more information on REACH .
Articles 23 , 27 and 63 of Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation set specific limits on the permissible levels of cadmium, nickel and lead applicable to commodities containing metallic components :
Cadmium : equal to or greater than 0.01% ( by weight )
Nickel : Nickel release rate not to exceed 0.2 micrograms per square centimeter per week ( migration limit )
Lead : 0.05% or more by weight
Quality inspection requirements for imitation jewelry on Amazon Europe
In compliance with applicable laws and regulations, Amazon prohibits the sale of products above the limit levels set forth in Appendix XVI. For certain products, Amazon requires manufacturers to provide a REACH statement or test report that certifies that the product complies with the REACH regulations for cadmium, nickel, and lead . These items include :
Jewellery and imitation jewellery worn on the wrist and ankle, such as bracelets and anklets
Jewelry and imitation jewelry worn around the neck, such as necklaces
Skin-piercing jewelry and imitation jewelry, such as earrings and piercings
Jewelry and imitation jewelry worn on fingers and toes, such as rings and toe rings
Additionally, Amazon or market regulators may physically inspect items, which may require you to provide further information or suspend sales, so be sure to provide all required compliance documents for all items in order to apply for reinstatement.
Amazon accepts two types of compliance documents to approve or reinstate your ASIN: .
(1) REACH Declaration of Conformity
This document is a declaration of compliance with REACH requirements drawn up by the manufacturer . The statement should also mention any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) contained in the product .
The REACH Declaration of Conformity can be self-certified by the manufacturer or issued to the manufacturer by a third-party testing agency.
The REACH Declaration of Conformity should meet the following requirements:
Any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) contained in the product must be mentioned
See Articles 23, 27 and 63 of Appendix XVII
The item in the identification statement (identifying a traceable jewelry item; it can be an ASIN , FNSKU , MSKU , or a sufficiently clear color image if necessary) contains the signature, name and title of the person who signed the document, and the date it was signed .
(2) REACH heavy metal test report
These test reports should demonstrate that all ingredients of the product meet the REACH threshold for heavy metals. If your item fails physical inspection by Amazon or a market regulator, we will require a REACH inspection report.
REACH test items
At present , the REACH inspection items include 224 items, and the REACH inspection of simulated jewelry mainly involves:
1. Total lead content;
2. Total cadmium content;
3. Nickel release;
4. Heavy metal content;
5. Phthalates content, etc.
In addition to REACH chemical testing, simulation jewelry can also do physical testing items such as tension, torsion, sharp points, and sharp edges.
