What is the EU Energy Efficiency Label
The EU energy efficiency label is an information label attached to energy-consuming products or their minimum packaging, indicating product energy efficiency levels and other performance indicators. Those who choose energy-efficient and energy-saving products.
The new EU energy label is the key to improving the energy efficiency of everyday appliances such as lighting, heating, fridges, freezers, TVs and more.
label content
As can be seen from the label pattern above, the content of the label mainly includes:
1. Trademark or supplier name;
2. Product model;
3. Energy efficiency level;
4. Energy consumption in working mode, for example, the unit of household appliances is /100h, and the unit of lamps is /1000h;
5. QR code, users can directly link to the database after scanning;
6. The energy efficiency level that the product meets;
7. Regulation number.
"EU Energy Labeling Regulations" (EU) /1369
Regulation/1369 (EU Energy Labeling Regulation) establishes a framework of rules applicable to EU Member States, requiring information related to energy efficiency, energy consumption and other resource consumption to be provided on product labels. Products that require energy label registration include: light bulbs and lamps, heaters, refrigerators and freezers, washing machines and dryers, air conditioners and fans, electronic displays (including televisions), kitchen appliances, tyres.
Lamps Energy Efficiency Labeling Directive EU/2015
Furthermore, in order to provide clearer and understandable energy efficiency ratings for energy-related goods, including household appliances, the EU Energy Labeling Regulations introduced a simpler energy labeling grading system for goods on a scale from A (most energy efficient) to G (energy efficient). lowest). The reclassified labels will apply to 4 product categories starting March 1, 2021: washing machines and washer-dryers, dishwashers, electronic monitors, and refrigerators. The new label for light sources (luminaires and light bulbs) begins on September 1, 2021.
After the new regulations take effect, before the relevant products enter the EU market, suppliers (manufacturers, importers or authorized representatives) need to register in the European Energy Labeling Product Database EPREL (European Product Database for Energy Labeling), submit energy efficiency labels, technology Product information such as data and conformity certificates.
Product Types Compliant with Energy Efficiency Labels
The types of products that require energy label compliance are:
1. Refrigerators and freezers
2. Kitchen appliances (such as dishwashers, range hoods, microwave ovens, toasters, etc.)
3. Washing machines and washer-dryers
4. Electronic displays, including televisions and computers
5. Air conditioning and comfort fans, air heating and cooling products
6. Lighting (lamps, bulbs, etc.)
Who needs to register for the energy label?
According to the latest policy requirements, all manufacturers/importers/distributors/remote sellers who place "energy efficiency-related products" on the EU market must register for EU energy efficiency labels!
In other words, as long as you put "energy efficiency-related products" on the EU market during production or trade, you must register for the EU energy efficiency label.
Registering for the EU energy efficiency label is not only a compliance obligation, but also an advantage.
According to the data of "Special Eurobarometer 492", in 2019, 93% of consumers recognized the energy efficiency label, and 79% of consumers considered this label when purchasing products. Electrical products with energy efficiency labels are often more favored by consumers, and they will be given priority when choosing.
registration process
1. Product sample sending laboratory
2. Fill in the application form (product model, brand, parameters)
3. 1-2 weeks to issue reports, generate energy efficiency labels, product information sheets, and upload them to the sales platform
Consequences of not registering the EU label
1. Products classified under EPR cannot be listed;
2. The product is removed from the shelves and stopped for sale, or even the store is closed;
3. The goods are detained or even destroyed by the customs.
Amazon reminded sellers through an announcement that starting from March 1, 2021, the products sold are affected by the new energy efficiency label requirements and must be updated as required in a timely manner; if they do not comply with the regulations and do not upload energy efficiency labels, they may be removed from the listing by Amazon .
How should Amazon upload energy efficiency labels in the background?
Listings in categories affected by the new energy labeling requirements must provide the following attributes in order to display the corresponding widget on the product detail page:
New energy efficiency level: The energy efficiency level of the product, that is, a value among A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.
Energy Efficiency Label: An image of the product's energy efficiency label.
Product energy efficiency table: An image of the product energy efficiency table.
Requirements: Images must have a resolution of 72 pixels per inch and be at least 500 pixels on the longest side. The recommended file format is JPEG (.jpg), and the image name must be valid and well-formed.
There are three main ways to upload:
Method 1: Batch upload of inventory (preferred)
1) In Seller Central, go to [Inventory] and select [Upload Image].
2) On the [Batch Image Upload] page, you can upload a single image or an entire ZIP file containing images.
Important: Before uploading an image, be sure to name your image following the guidelines below.
3) Select the image or ZIP file you want to upload from your computer.
4) Click [Submit Image].
5) You can select [Status Report] to check whether the upload is successful.
Method 2: Upload inventory file
In Seller Central, go to Inventory and select Bulk Upload Products
In the template, energy efficiency information should be submitted using the following attributes:
feed_product_type (must be one of the related feed product types)
eu_energy_efficiency_rating
product_efficiency_image_url (product energy efficiency table)
energy_efficiency_image_url (energy efficiency label)
Method 3: Edit ASINs one by one in the seller platform
In Seller Central, go to Inventory, then select Manage Inventory, search by ASIN, and select Edit.
EU and UK regulations have enforced the new regulations on energy efficiency labels, sellers and friends who have related products must pay attention to it! If you are not sure whether your product needs to be registered, please consult the editor.
