Recently, some friends are asking what certifications need to be done if they sell lamps and lanterns in the United States, such as light strips and light bulbs. Today, I will sort them out for you:
Certification consultation: 18113611623
1. FCC certification , all electronic products entering the United States require electromagnetic compatibility certification, which is mandatory. On July 13, 2017, the FCC decree 10-208 came into effect. The FCC after the new policy is divided into two categories: FCC-SDoC (products without wireless functions) and FCC-ID (products with wireless functions). Suitable for lamps, electrical appliances, audio products, etc.
2.ETL certification , this is a non-mandatory certification, but Amazon has requirements. The most dynamic safety certification mark in North America, has a wide range of popularity and recognition in North America, and the representatives of products that have obtained the ETL mark meet the mandatory standards in North America and can smoothly enter the North American market for sales. The product safety testing provided by ETL covers various products, fields and markets. Applicable products include power tools, home appliances, telecommunications and IT products, components, lamps (at least adapters with ETL), HVAC, medical equipment, toys, etc.
3. FTC certification , in order to make lighting products meet more specific and more reliable requirements, customers can choose high-quality products according to the label. The label reflects five key performance indicators: light output (lm), input power (W ), light efficiency (lm/w), color rendering index CRI and color temperature CCT. (In recent years, Amazon has removed LED bulbs due to lack of FTC labels). Applicable products include light source lamps with lamp caps, lamps (downlights, panel lights, etc.)
4. UL certification , not mandatory; Amazon requires some products. It is the most authoritative in the United States and the largest non-governmental organization in the world engaged in safety testing and identification. Use scientific test methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property and the degree of harm. It is mainly the testing and certification of product safety performance, and its certification scope does not include the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) characteristics of the product. Before the first batch of UL certified products are shipped, they must be inspected by the local provincial China Import and Export Commodity Inspection Bureau (CCIC) authorized by UL. Follow up inspections every year. (As Christmas approaches, Amazon will require UL certificates for light string products, otherwise they will be removed from the shelves). The scope of application includes audio-visual equipment, automobiles, electronic components, household appliances, industrial control equipment, information technology equipment, lamps, medical equipment, plastics, information equipment, wires and cables, etc.
5. DOE certification . This is a mandatory certification. The US DOE requirement is the unit energy consumption of the product, which is aimed at the energy efficiency of the product. Applicable products include switching power supplies, LED bulbs, etc.
Certification process:
1. Fill in the application form,
2. Provide product information,
3. Send samples,
4. Test OK,
5. Issue a report.
Cost: According to the actual situation!
