ISTA (International Safe Transit Association), the International Safe Transit Association, is an international non-profit organization. Its predecessor is NSTA-National Safe Transit Association. At present, there are hundreds of well-known freight companies and laboratory. It has been committed to assisting members to develop effective packaging, methods, logistics systems, etc., to improve the safety performance of product transportation packaging, thereby preventing or reducing product losses during transportation and handling. The organization has issued a series of standards and documents such as test procedures and test items as a unified basis for evaluating the safety performance of transport packaging.
The significance of handling the ISTA packaging test:
1. Reduce product damage and loss to ensure product value
2. Save on distribution costs
3. Reduce and eliminate claims disputes
4. Shorten packaging development time and enhance market confidence
5. Improve customer satisfaction and keep business moving
ISTA tests have the ISTA1-ISTA7 series:
ISTA 6 series
The ISTA 6 series is a test program developed by ISTA in cooperation with ISTA member companies. There are currently 6- Air_h=qnhi -Over Boxing (Amazon), 6- Air_h=qnhi -S.1.0.C. (Amazon), 6-FEDEX-A (Federal), 6-FEDEX-B (FedEx Test). 6-SAMCLUB (Walmart Sam's Club).
ISTA 6- Air_h=qnhi -Over Boxing: This test procedure is for products shipped in Amazon boxes via Amazon's fulfillment system, including truck, rail, and air. The program includes temperature and humidity pretreatment (equilibrium temperature and humidity between the package and the laboratory environment), temperature and humidity treatment (simulating the temperature and humidity environment that may be experienced during transportation), shock (drop), random vibration, and leak testing.
ISTA 6- Air_h=qnhi -SI0.C.: for Air_h=qnhi Fulfillment system shipments are subject to the Ship in Original Container (SIOC) testing procedure. 6- Air_h=qnhiaccording to Air_h=qnhi shipping method, Air_h=qnhi Fulfillment center handling methods, package weights, and item types classify packages into eight types A through H. The main test items are temperature and humidity pretreatment (balance of temperature and humidity between the package and laboratory environment), temperature and humidity treatment (simulating the temperature and humidity environment that may be experienced during transportation), impact (free drop, rotating edge drop, rotating surface drop, rotating Corner drop, bridge shock, concentrated edge shock, tipping, slope shock). Random vibration (with top load, without top load), compression (vertical, horizontal), leak test.
ISTA 6-FEDEX-A (FedEx Test A): It is suitable for packages not exceeding 1501bs. The program is divided into US domestic transportation and international transportation. The test procedures mainly include impact (drop, concentrated edge impact, bridge impact) , vertical compression, random vibration (truck transport, air transport).
ISTA 6-FEDEX-B (FedEx Test B): Applicable to packages over 150lbs, the program is divided into US domestic transportation and international transportation, the test program mainly includes impact (inclined impact, bottom impact, tipping, rotation edge impact, rotational angle impact), vertical compression, vibration (rotational vibration, random vibration).
ISTA 6-SAMSCLUB (Sam): This test procedure is a comprehensive simulation test designed and developed by ISTA and Sam's Club in cooperation. Applies to packages shipped from the Sam's Club distribution system to anywhere in the United States. The program is divided into 4 different types of packages A to D. The test program mainly includes temperature and humidity pretreatment (balance of temperature and humidity between the package and laboratory environment), temperature and humidity treatment (simulating the temperature and humidity environment that may be experienced during transportation) , Shock (inclined surface impact, free fall, rotating edge drop, rotating surface drop, concentrated edge impact, bridge impact), forklift test, pressure (vertical, horizontal), random vibration (with top load, without top load).
Amazon ISTA packaging and transportation inspection report process:
1. The enterprise submits an oral or written preliminary application to the institutional laboratory.
2. The applicant fills in the application form and provides test samples to our company.
3. Institutional engineers determine the ISTA 6 test plan and inspection items and quote.
4. The applicant signs a contract agreement with the institution and pays the certification fee.
5. The laboratory conducts product testing and reviews technical documents.
6. The laboratory provides product test reports to enterprises, and mails reports and invoices;
