Recently, Amazon UK announced that it will ban self-delivery sellers from listing certain age-restricted knives from May 19.
It is reported that according to the content of the UK’s newly revised Offensive Weapons Act in 2019, the use of blades in private places, including offensive knives such as chef’s knives and kitchen knives, requires age verification, and Amazon UK will no longer allow self-delivery sellers on Amazon UK. The site lists certain age-restricted knives.
The announcement sparked outrage from some sellers: "I'm trying to list non-sharp butter knives and have marked them as UK_18 _knife, but my listing is still blocked by Amazon."
More sellers said that Amazon’s announcement included kitchen knives, which made no sense. You know, for Europeans, kitchen knives are also one of their tableware.

Bladed Product Listing Guidelines
1. If sellers sell bladed products through self-fulfillment channels, they must meet the requirements set forth in Table A below in order to list these products.
Table A: Ready-to-sell knife-edge products sold through seller-fulfilled channels
Note to sellers: Products that do not comply with legal requirements, Amazon policies, or listing guidelines may be removed by Amazon.
//
How can I make sure the seller meets all the requirements?
Tagging: If a seller has listed or will be listing a knife-edged product that requires a knife tag (as described in Table A) but has not been tagged, the seller will need to tag the ASIN.
If the seller 's item has been successfully tagged, the seller will see the following message on the ASIN page: "Blade Items are not for sale to minors under the age of 18. Signature confirmation is required upon delivery. See details."
Shipping: If you are listing a knife edged product with knife markings (as described in Table A), you will need to ship the product through a licensed Age On Arrival (AVD) service and upload the tracking details for each shipped product to Seller Central.
//
Upload tracking information
There are two methods for sellers to upload tracking information for each age-restricted blade product they ship. When confirming orders one by one:
1. Find the order in [Manage Orders] and click [Confirm Shipment].
2. Enter the 【Delivery Date】, 【Delivery Method】(including carrier information) and 【Tracking Code】(provided by the carrier) on the 【Confirm Delivery】page.
3. Enter any special notes about the order in the Seller Notes field.
4. Click [Confirm Delivery].
//
Confirm Multiple Orders Simultaneously Using the Shipping Confirmation Template
1. Download and save the Shipping Confirmation Template (as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet).
2. Enter shipping information into the template.
3. Save the spreadsheet as a tab-delimited text file.
4. Upload the text file to Amazon.co.uk.
5. Confirm that the upload was successful.
Category: When creating a new bladed product ASIN on the Amazon.co.uk marketplace, sellers must ensure that the product is listed in the correct category (see Table A above). Sellers can ensure that new ASINs are properly classified in two ways:
Batch operation: If the seller is creating new ASINs in batches, please add the corresponding product type in the "Upload Data Product Type" field of the relevant "Inventory Template File". See Table B below to map the "Upload Data Product Type" to the relevant taxonomy.
One by one: If the seller manually creates an ASIN on the platform (under "Inventory" → "Add New Product"), please select the relevant "Product Category" from the "All Product Categories" list. See Table B below to map Product Categories to relevant categories.
If a seller needs to change the classification of an existing bladed product ASIN, they can update the classification of each ASIN by:
If the ASIN has already been created: Use the "Bulk Action" method above.
If the ASIN has not been created yet: Please raise an issue with Selling Partner Support to update the ASIN's Item Type/Item Category accordingly.
Table B: Classifications mapped to product types/product categories
Note: If the seller sells a product that does not include a blade, but the product image shows a blade (eg razor/razor set), please clearly state in the title that the blade is not sold with the product. Some items may be marked for removal if they appear to contain a knife edge but do not have a "knife mark".

Sellers Selling Bladed Products with FBA
If sellers sell bladed products through FBA, you can refer to the following pages for the bladed products policy for selling through the FBA channel:
FBA product restrictions: ;ref=efph_201730840_cont_201852820
FBA Embargoed Items: ;nodeId=201822800
With the exception of the four situations outlined in Table C, bladed products cannot be sold through the FBA channel.

In recent years, domestic knives have captured the hearts of many foreigners, but their lethality cannot be underestimated. Sellers who sell such products must abide by relevant platform regulations and pay attention to the policies of various countries.
