Amazon partners with Infinium to use low-carbon electric fuels in transportation fleets

Amazon (AMZN.US) signed a deal with renewable fuel technology company Infinium to use Infinium's ultra-low-carbon electric fuels to power transportation fleets starting in 2023. Infinium will initially provide ample electric fuel to travel nearly 5 million miles per year.

Amazon plans to first use such fuels in trucks in its mid-range fleet in Southern California.

The agreement represents another step in Amazon's commitment to shift its transportation network from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Kara Hurst, Amazon Sustainability Executive , said: "Infinium's e-fuel can help Amazon reduce carbon emissions across its entire transportation fleet, which is important to the company and our customers, and will help us move closer to net-zero emissions by 2040. The goal."
