What is WEEE?

The German Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) provides legal support for one of the EPR's commodity classifications.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental policy that requires the first party to place an EPR-compliant product in a country (i.e. "Producer" in "Extended Producer Responsibility"), Responsible for the entire life cycle of the merchandise it introduces into the site, i.e. from the start of merchandise design to the end of the merchandise life cycle (including waste collection).

WEEE scope of use:

The German Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) applies to all electrical and electronic equipment goods (except those specifically excluded by law) and also to goods with electrical or electronic assembly parts, such as furniture, clothing or household items. Your product is considered a product subject to the Directive if it is designed to operate on a voltage of up to 1,000 volts alternating current or 1,500 volts direct current and meets one of the following conditions:

1. Rely on current or electromagnetic field to work normally;

2. For generating, transmitting and measuring current and electromagnetic fields.

Goods subject to the Directive are only end-use goods, i.e. finished goods after completion, which may:

1. Complete an independent function;

2. It is up to the end user to decide to use or install;

3. In principle, it can be installed without too much technology, even by a technician.

In contrast, assembled parts are not subject to the Act.

WEEE execution time:

1. The seller will get 4 points for every 200 orders successfully delivered in the past 180 days.

2. As the number of successful orders delivered by the seller increases, the account status rating will also increase.

3. The value of each violation depends on the severity, usually 2 to 8 points, but serious violations will automatically reset the Account Health Rating score to zero.

4. If the same policy is violated multiple times, in some cases, repeated violations will result in double deductions.

Consequences of not uploading WEEE:

Amazon will be obliged to suspend your non-compliant listings under the WEEE product category starting January 1, 2023.

What are the steps for uploading the WEEE-Reg.-Nr number?

1. Copy the link below into your browser, log in to Amazon Seller Central, go to the Extended Producer Responsibility Requirements: German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste Directive help page, and view the compliance portal link for each type of equipment.

2. Click the corresponding link to view the brands that need to provide the WEEE-Reg.-Nr number for each specific equipment type.

3. After opening the first link, please insert the WEEE-Reg.-Nr number of the brand you want to register in the opening text box (it can be your own registration number or the registration number of the manufacturer of your product).

4. If you are a reseller and are using the WEEE-Reg.-Nr number of the producer of your goods, please check the item "I received this electrical and electronic equipment scrap registration number from the producer of my supply chain" ” checkbox.

5. Click "Submit".

6. For all brands of this type of device you sell on Amazon Germany, please repeat steps 3-5, making sure you have checked all the pages (up to 5 records per page).

7. For all types of equipment that require a WEEE-Reg.-Nr number, please repeat steps 1~6.

8. After completing the above steps, Amazon will verify each WEEE-Reg.-Nr number you submit. You can view the verification results on the Compliance Portal page within a few days of submission.

Can I edit or remove my WEEE-Reg.-Nr number?

WEEE-Reg.-Nr numbers cannot be deleted, but can be edited. If the registration number you provided is incorrect, you can click the "edit" link below the WEEE-Reg.-Nr number originally submitted to edit and resubmit.

If you have provided an unnecessary or irrelevant registration number and wish to delete it, Amazon will perform a verification and mark its verification as invalid and no action is required from you.
