Step 3: Enter the registration code (just fill in the 8-digit number, no need to add DE before the number) and submit the upload.

If there is a reminder of "There is currently no brand record associated with this device type" when uploading, you can check whether the category is selected correctly or whether the category and brand are registered correctly, or you can click "Contact Sales Partner" in the upper right corner to open a CASE solution.

The opening of the upload portal also means that WEEE enforces a countdown. Amazon has issued an announcement reminding that WEEE will be enforced from January 1, 2023, when Amazon will be obliged to suspend non-compliant products released under the WEEE product category.

How do I know if I want to register for WEEE?

According to German WEEE requirements, you need to register for WEEE if you meet at least one of the following conditions:

① An entity that manufactures goods subject to WEEE jurisdiction in Germany and sells it under its own trade name or brand;

②Sell goods subject to the WEEE jurisdiction of other manufacturers under their own trade names or brands in Germany, or for commercial resale;

③For commercial purposes, the first sale of goods under the jurisdiction of WEEE not originating in Germany in the German market, including the import of goods under the jurisdiction of WEEE into Germany from overseas;

④ Provide goods subject to WEEE jurisdiction directly to German end users through online sales, but the company is not located in Germany.

Which products are covered by WEEE?

German WEEE applies to all electrical and electronic equipment goods (unless expressly excluded by legal exceptions). Your product is considered to be subject to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive if it is designed to operate on a voltage of up to 1000 volts alternating current or 1500 volts direct current and meets one of the following conditions:

①Rely on current or electromagnetic field to work normally;

② used to generate, transmit and measure current and electromagnetic fields.

The latest German WEEE regulations divide electrical and electronic equipment into heat exchangers, display devices (screens) for private households, lamps/charged and discharge gas lamps, large electronic equipment (large household appliances), small electronic equipment (small household appliances), small IT and Six categories of telecommunications equipment.

What are the consequences of not registering for WEEE?

Relevant German authorities require Amazon to notify cross-border sellers selling on the platform to register for WEEE, and sellers are not allowed to sell before obtaining WEEE. If the seller violates other obligations stipulated in Article 45 of WEEE, there are the following penalties:
