Stop selling! Off the shelf! Mandatory! Attention Amazon Germany sellers!
With the increasingly strict compliance of cross-border e-commerce platforms, Amazon recently issued a notice that sellers must complete the German EPR registration before June 30, 2022, and the German packaging law bears the brunt.
Platforms such as AliExpress, Wish, and Dunhuang.com have also issued compliance requirements one after another. If the EPR is not registered as required, sellers will face bans, product removals, and even hefty fines.
Sellers who do not have German EPR yet, hurry up and register! In particular, sellers who plan to participate in this year's Amazon Prime Day promotions will miss the peak season if they don't prepare in advance and wait until the product is removed before registering!
Amazon Banned! German EPR must be registered!
Amazon officially notified that sellers must upload and verify the German packaging law before June 30, 2022 , otherwise the platform will suspend the sale of all applicable products. If the seller already has a registration number, please upload it to the compliance portal as soon as possible and wait for Amazon to verify it.
According to the German packaging law, the seller's packaging must meet the following three requirements:
Registration with a producer responsibility organization;
Register through the "LUCID" register, obtain the EPR number, and improve the number and package quantity information to the producer responsibility organization;
Provide the name of the seller's producer responsibility organization and the information on the recorded packaging quantity through LUCID.
Starting from June 15th, the platform will successively remove products with non-compliant packaging. If the seller has not uploaded the LUCID registration number after July 1st, the store will be closed and fined.
What is the LUCID registration number?
The LUCID registration number is also known as the EPR German Packaging Act registration number.
EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) is an environmental policy of local countries and regions, requiring producers to be responsible for the entire life cycle of the products they launch in the market, that is, from the beginning of product design to the end of the product life cycle (including waste collection and disposal).
According to the provisions of the Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations, responsible entities must reduce the impact of their commodities on the environment throughout the commodity life cycle.
