


On September 30, Amazon France recently announced its 2021 turnover and seller data. In 2021, Amazon's revenue in the French market is 9 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 23%.
Data show that in 2021, more than 13,000 French SMEs will sell on Amazon. These businesses have an average annual revenue of more than 150,000 euros and sell more than 150 products on Amazon every minute. More than 2,500 companies have sales of more than 100,000 euros, and more than 100 companies have sales of more than 1 million euros.
Through the sale of products on the Amazon platform, the total export value of French SMEs in 2021 will reach 600 million euros, an increase of almost 40% year-on-year. Currently, 70% of French companies have not established cross-border operations.
The three regions with the strongest export capabilities for French SMEs are : Ile-de-France (more than 250 million euros), Haute-France (more than 7 million euros) and Overwien-rhone-alpes (more than 60 million euros).
In addition, from 2010 to 2021, Amazon invested more than 16 billion euros in operating expenses such as logistics, tools, services and employee compensation in France. Amazon's workforce in France has more than tripled in the past five years.
In 2022, Amazon France will add 3,000 new permanent employees. As of now, Amazon has 18,500 full-time employees in France.
Amazon’s contribution to public service financing and the French social model amounts to hundreds of millions of euros a year, and according to a Deloitte report published in 2020 and 2021, Amazon is one of the top 100 companies that contribute to French taxation.
To support the development of French SMEs, Amazon launched its Amazon business in France in 2018. Amazon helps tens of thousands of French SMEs grow and reaches more than 5 million business customers worldwide.
Meanwhile, Amazon has helped tens of thousands of French SMEs and large companies grow through Amazon Cloud Services (AWS). According to a study commissioned by Public First in 2021, AWS services enable French companies to contribute €1.6 billion to GDP in 2020, supporting 22,000 full-time jobs.
