On January 9th , Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has completed its first shipment using its Boeing 747-8F aircraft. Its Chicago team transported a nine-ton Rolls-Royce aircraft engine from Chicago to Hong Kong on a B747-8F aircraft. According to K+N, it took four people, three machines and an hour to load the engine onto the plane.
The aircraft entered service as part of a long-term charter agreement with Atlas Air in which K+N will lease the full capacity of two Boeing 747-8Fs. These two 747s are also the last two famous jumbo jets that Boeing will build.
K+N said the aircraft will be used on trans-Pacific services and connected to its intra-Asia network to provide better connectivity in the growing Asia-Pacific region.
