Recently, Amazon issued an important notice requiring all sellers to provide REACH test reports. The notice states that if you sell products on Amazon, you must comply with all applicable EU and local laws and regulations, as well as Amazon policies that apply to those products and listings. To sell certain items on Amazon, a REACH Declaration of Conformity or Test Report is required.
1. What does Amazon REACH mean?
When selling on Amazon, you need to ensure compliance with Regulation (EC) No 2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). Under REACH, goods (i.e. finished products) cannot be sold if they contain more than the limit of certain chemicals, such as heavy metals. For more information on REACH, please contact Unitest!
2. Which products need to do REACH certification?
Chemicals, alloys, plastics, semi-finished products, accessories
Toys, furniture, cosmetics, stationery, paints, paints, glues and cleaners
Textile and apparel, footwear, leather products and accessories
Electrical and electronic products and other products, etc.
3. How long does it take to do REACH certification?
A: Usually, it takes about 1 week for a product to apply for REACH certification. If it is a more complex product, the REACH certification time is relatively long.
4. How long is the REACH certification valid for?
A: There is no so-called validity period for product REACH certification. If the product that has previously applied for REACH certification has not changed, the REACH report can continue to be used.
5. How does REACH affect the products sold?
In compliance with applicable laws and regulations, Amazon prohibits the sale of products above the limit levels set forth in Appendix XVII. For certain products, Amazon requires manufacturers to provide a REACH statement or test report that certifies that the product complies with the REACH regulations for cadmium, nickel, and lead.
Additionally, items may be physically inspected by Amazon or market regulators, which may require further information or suspend sales, so be sure to provide all required compliance documents for all items in order to apply for reinstatement.
