Amazon announced on September 2 that it had started shipping goods to customers from its new fulfillment center in Dublin.
Located in the Baldonnell Business Park, the 630,000-square-foot centre will house millions of items that will be shipped to customers in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.
The fulfillment centre in Dublin opens in Ireland along with two Amazon fulfillment centres in Rathcoole and Ballycoolin.
Darragh Kelly, general manager of Amazon's Fulfillment Centre in Dublin, said: "As a proud Irishman, I am honoured to lead the opening of our first fulfilment centre on the island of Ireland.
"Our new logistics centre will provide customers across Ireland with faster delivery times, while creating hundreds of positions in a wide range of areas including engineering, HR, IT, health and safety, finance and operations management."
"It's an exciting time to be part of the Amazon Dublin team, and I look forward to the weeks and months ahead as our team grows to serve our customers."
The centre will employ around 500 people, with a starting salary of 13.50 euros per hour.
When fully operational, the centre will improve delivery times for Amazon customers in Ireland.
Last year, Amazon also announced that they would open a second delivery station at Ballycoolin's Northwest Logistics Park, which will create more than 20 jobs in addition to drivers.
