In the latest news, Amazon US station issued two announcements, respectively restricting the sales of home appliances and fur products in California.
The announcement stated that from January 1, 2023, the California Fishing and Hunting Law will be updated: the manufacture, sale, trade or distribution of fur products in California is prohibited. To comply with the new law, Amazon will restrict the sale of fur products to California starting next year.
The law applies to all types of fur from any source and defines fur as any part of animal skin or attached hair, wool or fur fibers, whether in raw or processed state. The exemption includes faux fur (false fur) and fur products for any activity expressly authorized by federal law.
For more information on the new law and a list of all exempt products, see Industry Guidance on California State Assembly Bill 44, and Amazon's Policy on Animals and Animal-Related Products.
If any of your ASINs are affected, we will contact you via email 30 days before 1 January 2023. If you believe your listing has been incorrectly identified as a prohibited product, please contact Amazon.
At the same time, another announcement stated that the California Energy Commission (CEC) requires regulated appliances to meet minimum electrical energy efficiency standards and to be registered in the Modern Equipment Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS) and provide accurate information, including brand name, manufacturer name and model.
On February 6, 2023, Amazon will begin restricting sales to California of the following categories of products not registered with MAEDbS:
Light Bulbs Pool Products and Portable Spa Products Portable Air Conditioning Computers and Monitors
Any products that sellers sell in these categories will still be available for sale on Amazon; however, they will not be available for sale in California until the seller properly registers them with the CEC's MAEDbS. Once Amazon confirms that your product is registered, your listing will automatically revert to selling in California.

After the announcement is issued, it will have a certain impact on sellers who sell products in the above categories. Sellers can still continue to sell in other states in the United States, but California is restricted. If most of the seller’s customer base is in California, they must make timely Adjustment. For home appliance sellers who want to continue selling in California, they can properly register them with the CEC's MAEDbS. If you are worried that restricted home appliances occupy the storage capacity and other products cannot be put into the warehouse normally, you can remove the products from the Amazon warehouse in California and transfer them to the third-party Empire Express US overseas warehouse while registering. After the registration is completed, you can continue to transfer Go to the Amazon warehouse for sale.
For prohibited fur products, sellers can first remove the goods from the Amazon warehouse in California, USA to overseas warehouses in the United States, and then transfer them to Amazon warehouses in other regions, or directly transfer them to other countries. If the seller plans to replace the product and does not continue to sell these products, they can also sell them directly to overseas warehouses in the United States for distribution at a discounted price, so that part of the funds can be withdrawn quickly to avoid destruction of the goods. American overseas warehouses can also provide labeling, product quality testing, dropshipping and customs clearance warehousing services to meet most of the needs of sellers.
