Like other Amazon marketplaces, Amazon UK has two selling plans to choose from: Personal and Professional.
personal:
The Individual plan is for beginner sellers who are unsure of what to sell or how much they don't plan to sell each month. There is no monthly fee for this plan, but you will pay an extra £0.75 per item sold.
Choose an individual if:
1. You sell less than 35 items per month (if you sell more than 35 items per month, the cost per sale will exceed the monthly fee for the Professional Selling Plan)
2. You're still deciding what to sell, or don't have much inventory
3. You’re not going to advertise or use the advanced selling tools Amazon offers professional sellers
specialized:
The Professional plan is perfect for anyone serious about selling on Amazon and planning to sell more than 35 items per month on the platform. With this plan, you will pay a flat rate of £25/month.
Choose a professional plan if:
1. Plan to sell more than 35 items per month
2. Want to use Amazon Advertising
3. Want to use advanced sales tools and reports
4. Want to use the purchase box
5. Want to sell products in limited categories

Amazon UK Fulfillment Methods
Sellers in the European marketplace can take advantage of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) or handle the packaging and shipping themselves through Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM).
Serviced by Amazon
FBA is what most sellers use because it saves time and adds convenience. With FBA, you ship your items to Amazon's fulfillment centers, and once a customer makes a purchase, an Amazon worker will pick, pack, and ship the order for you. Amazon will also handle customer service on your behalf for any orders shipped via FBA.
Another major advantage of using FBA over FBM is that all of your products will be eligible for Prime shipping. Prime members are more likely to buy Prime-eligible products because they receive their packages in as little as 1-2 days.
You can also use your FBA inventory to fulfill orders for all European markets.
Fulfilled by Merchant
FBM means sellers will manage their own storage, fulfillment and customer service. Some sellers like to use FBM because they can save money by avoiding FBA fees and inbound shipping fees. Many FBM sellers use third-party fulfillment providers to store and ship their products instead of Amazon.
For a more in-depth comparison of these fulfillment methods, check out our Amazon FBA vs FBM comparison guide.
If you are an international seller from the US, you may use the FBA method.
How much does it cost to sell on Amazon UK?
You know how much each selling plan costs, but let's take a look at all the other fees you'll run into as an Amazon UK seller.
Referral fee
Referral fees are "commissions" you pay to Amazon for every item you sell. Referral fees will be based on the category you are selling in, usually between 8% and 15%.
All Amazon sellers will pay this fee, regardless of your fulfillment method.
Amazon automatically charges a referral fee after each sale on the marketplace. You will earn the sale price of the item, minus their 15% commission (plus any shipping costs if selling via FBM, or fulfillment via FBA).
Below is the current referral fee structure for Amazon UK.

FBA fulfillment fees
If you decide to use FBA to fulfill your Amazon order, you will be charged additional fees to cover storage, sorting, packing and shipping costs. This is a flat fee based on the size and weight of the product sold.
To find out what the FBA fees are for your specific product, visit Amazon Europe's Fee Rate Card.
To determine your potential FBA fees, you can also use Amazon's free income calculator.

Storage fee
In addition to fulfillment fees, FBA sellers also pay a monthly storage fee, which is calculated based on the average daily volume (measured in cubic feet) of space your inventory occupies in an Amazon fulfillment center.

VAT compliance as an Amazon UK seller
If you sell on Amazon UK or any other European marketplace, you will be required to register a VAT number for each European country you sell to.
VAT means value-added tax, which is a tax that sellers add to the price of their products and pass it on to the state tax authority.
Amazon says it is the responsibility of sellers to ensure they are VAT compliant in every European country where they sell their products.
What is the VAT rate in each country?

If you are a seller in a non-EU country, you may need to appoint a tax agency in certain European countries to register for VAT.
If you're not sure about the VAT registration process, you can use Amazon's VAT service to register in each of the required countries.
Please visit Amazon's Helpful VAT Resources page to learn more about VAT compliance.
Use one seller account on all European marketplaces
Once you register as a seller on Amazon UK, Amazon makes it very easy for you to list your products on all five European marketplaces. With one unified European account, you can sell on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, Amazon.de, Amazon.it and Amazon.es.
Best of all, you can fulfill orders from all five markets from one country. If your home country is the UK, any FBA orders you receive in another market will be fulfilled from that stock.
Amazon also has a free listing translation tool to ensure your listings are in the correct language depending on the country.
