In February, Amazon introduced UL 1576, a safety standard for Flashlight and Lantern products. Yellow V:HYZ19950308
Now the competition on the Amazon platform is becoming more and more fierce, and there are more and more non-standard operations, and the platform requirements are getting higher and higher! Previously, UL certification was not required, but recently some sellers reported that the product was removed from the shelves due to the lack of UL certification. Today, we mainly interpret the UL1576 certification of the flashlight.
What products does UL 1576 apply to?
UL 1576 covers Flashlight and Lantern products for use in non-hazardous locations per NFPA 70 and powered by:
1) Secondary rechargeable battery
2) Universal primary battery (non-rechargeable)
3) Simultaneous battery/AC power supply
Components
The parts should meet the safety requirements in the corresponding UL standards, and will not cause fire, electric shock and other hazards under normal and abnormal conditions; the internal wires need to meet UL758, UL44, UL83, UL66, Chapter 3 of ANSI / NFPA 70 certification, and Insulated conductors for special applications (such as data processing or communications) and located in low-voltage circuits that do not involve a risk of fire or personal injury, do not require compliance with UL 758. The sealing ring needs to meet the certification of UL157, the rubber or neoprene compound used for rain protection only needs to comply with the accelerated aging test; the lithium-ion button battery needs to meet the UL4200A certification; the lithium-ion battery system needs to meet the relevant structural and test requirements of UL2595.
Structures
shell
All electrical components, except power cords or interconnects, which may present a hazard of fire, electric shock, or personal injury under any use bar, shall be enclosed in acceptable enclosures. If the product can produce UV radiation, the plastic housing or frame should meet the UV exposure test in UL746C, and if the material has been certified, a material certificate that meets f(1) is required;
Features that appeal to children
Meet the relevant requirements of UL696 electronic toys; the movable parts should not form sharp edges and cause injury to people after the drop or impact test.
anti-corrosion
Corrosion of unprotected ferrous parts that could result in fire, electric shock, or personal injury should be protected from corrosion by painting, galvanizing, electroplating, or other equivalent means
mechanical protection
Wiring and connections between parts of the product should be protected or sealed from mechanical damage; conductor passage holes should be fitted with suitable bushings or holes should have smooth rounded surfaces; may be located near flammable materials or may be subject to mechanical damage The wiring should use armored cables, rigid metal pipes, electronic metal pipes, metal trunking or other equivalent protection measures.The sharpness of the case, frame, shield, handle or the like should not constitute an injury to normal maintenance and user personnel
Common tests (Tests)
