According to news on July 1, it is understood that TikTok e-commerce will follow Amazon's FBA warehouse model and store some products with stable sales in local warehouses in the UK in advance to shorten cross-border logistics time.
TikTok e-commerce is preparing to launch a warehousing plan called "Aquaman" in the UK market recently. "Sea King, that is, the 'king of the sea'." said a person close to TikTok.
While promoting overseas stocking warehouses, TikTok e-commerce is also establishing warehousing centers in China to save the time for merchants from delivery to cross-border transshipment points.
It is reported that the logistics time for TikTok e-commerce to ship from China to the UK takes at least 10-15 days, and more than a month. According to internal calculations, the Sea King plan can shorten the average performance time to 3-5 days.
"Sea King" Project
TikTok officials recommend that merchants choose products with an order volume of more than 200 pieces in the past month, a unit price of over $2, and a strong seasonality that can quickly turn around.
However, at present, the Sea King plan can only be regarded as a small patch in the infrastructure construction of TikTok e-commerce. It took Amazon 30 years and tens of billions of dollars to build a truly efficient logistics system.
Through Amazon's Prime membership service, the vast majority of consumers in Europe and the United States can get the logistics experience of next-day delivery of goods. TikTok, which was originally relatively difficult to supply goods, needs to optimize each link one by one, and there is no shortcut to take.
TikTok's US station will be removed in July?
● Recently, Brendan Carr, one of the commissioners of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), said that due to data security concerns, he had sent letters asking Apple and Google to remove TikTok from the app stores.
FCC Commissioner Carr believes that TikTok collects a large amount of sensitive data on American users.
● The commissioner asked Apple and Google to either remove TikTok before July 8, or explain the reasons for not removing it before the deadline.
On June 17, TikTok announced that it had transferred U.S. user data information to Oracle's servers to address concerns from U.S. regulators.
Although the FCC does not have the authority to manage the application market, neither Google nor Apple has yet commented on the commissioner's request, and TikTok is still at risk of being removed from the U.S. market.
TikTok tests 'shop' label in Indonesia
TikTok is testing a “Shop” tab in Indonesia, where users in Indonesia can access, browse and buy products, next to the “Following” and “For You” feeds at the top of TikTok. The "Shop" tab is a collection of TikTok Shop products.
According to a screenshot from intelligence firm Watchful.ai, the "Shop" tab includes a search bar and different shopping categories, with free shipping on certain items.
In response, TikTok has confirmed the news and said that the label is still in the testing phase. But as of now, officials have not disclosed whether or when it plans to introduce it to more areas.
