Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly certification (Climate Pledge Friendly) is Amazon's goal to help end buyers easily discover and purchase more sustainable products to eliminate carbon emissions as much as possible and offset any remaining carbon emissions to achieve its goals. A certification program for continuous product improvement. Put simply: Reducing carbon emissions, or minimizing your carbon footprint, reduces the amount of greenhouse gases that warm the planet.
When a buyer searches for an Amazon product and sees this climate-friendly pledge label, it indicates that the product has one or more of 44 (as of 2022) different sustainability certifications, and obtaining this label also means that there will be more The traffic support and exposure will enhance the buyer's purchase propensity.
An article to understand Amazon's Climate Pledge Friendly certification (Climate Pledge Friendly)
Amazon works with a wide range of external certifications, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and independent laboratories, to help Amazon distinguish more sustainable products. Amazon focuses on certifications that are reputable, transparent, and focused on protecting the natural world. Amazon will regularly evaluate and reassess the certification environment to ensure Amazon includes the best partners to help you buy more sustainably.
Amazon has also created two Amazon's own certifications: Compact by Design and Pre-owned Certified. Today let's take a look at how to apply for Amazon's Climate Pledge Friendly (Climate Pledge Friendly) – Compact by Design certification.
Compact by Design:
Compact by Design products feature more efficient designs, although they don't always look very different. With excess air and water removed, products require less packaging and are shipped more efficiently. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant reductions in carbon emissions.
How do you know a product is more effective? Look at the following examples:
less packaging
Many products are designed to stand out on store shelves. Online products don't need eye-catching packaging, and Compact by Design has identified products that don't have this excess packaging.
less air in the container
Some Compact by Design products have less air, which means less packaging. You get the same amount of product in a smaller container.
more efficient shape
Compact by Design emphasizes that the shape of the products allows them to deliver the same amount of product while minimizing cubic inches.
reduce weight
Although two containers can hold the same volume, lighter packaging materials can improve the efficiency of shipping products.
waterless technology
Products can be transformed in new and exciting ways. An example is water-based products that are converted to solids. This greatly reduces product size and weight.
concentrated product
Compact by Design products are more concentrated than similar products. Concentrated cleaners can make many gallons of cleaning solution when diluted at home.
How to make a product compliant with Compact by Design::
To qualify as a compact design, a product must have best-in-class "unit efficiency." We use product attributes such as item package size, item weight, and unit quantity to calculate the unit efficiency of a product. A unit is defined as the total amount of product in the container we are evaluating. This is normalization across product categories, such as fluid ounces in detergent, loads in laundry detergent, and ounces in coffee.
Unit efficiency is calculated as (per unit cubic volume) x (per unit weight). This indicator allows us to calculate the volume and weight utilization of the unit quantity of product delivered. In this equation, a lower specific efficiency value means a more efficient design. For example, concentrated laundry detergent can deliver the same number of units (load) in a smaller volume and weight compared to non-concentrated detergents, increasing unit efficiency.
To set the threshold, we calculated the unit efficiency of each item in the product category. We set these thresholds to identify the most efficient products in each product category. Products with a unit efficiency above the category threshold qualify for compact design and become part of the climate-friendly commitment.
