I believe that many cross-border novice merchants who are new to the industry have heard of the term hijacking, so what is Amazon hijacking? Hijacking is one of the characteristics of Amazon, which allows different merchants to sell the same product on the same page. The product listings uploaded by our merchants essentially belong to Amazon, not our merchants, and we only have the right to edit product listings (and sometimes lose the right to edit). Amazon's original intention is to allow different merchants to compete to provide consumers with cheaper products of the same product. But for our merchants, this is indeed a very unfriendly overlord clause.
So as Amazon sellers, what impact and consequences will we have if we are hijacked by other merchants?
1. Cause a price war. Normally, the Amazon shopping cart is owned by the creator of the listing. But hijackers may often snatch the shopping cart at a lower price. Once successful, the order quickly flows to the hijacker. In order to get back the shopping cart, the merchant can only get back the shopping cart by reducing the price of the product!
2. Reducing the overall price record of the listing will affect the registration of subsequent activities. In many cases, merchants need to improve product listing rankings to participate in Amazon activities. During the event, product prices must be based on a period of time (within 30 days) and the lowest price in the listing. And this minimum price includes the order price of the hijacker. Generally speaking, during the event, the order price will be more favorable, the price will be lower, and the profit will be lower. If you still sign up for the event at such a low price as a hijacker, as a merchant, we may suffer serious losses, and may even lose money in trading!
3. Orders decreased and were snatched away by hijackers. Generally speaking, the daily sales of listings are fixed. If there are no hijackers, all orders are our own. If it is hijacked by other merchants, the traffic sales will be shared by other sellers. As a result, merchants will be able to receive fewer orders. As mentioned above, as a merchant, we need energy and advertising costs to obtain this order. These costs are all calculated on the merchant's head, but the hijacker does not need to bear any additional costs.
4. The weight of the listing decreases, and the negative reviews increase. Hijackers only share our Listing product pages, and we have no control over the authenticity and quality of the products sold by hijackers. And in most cases, these hijackers are small sellers with weak strength. Their products often have quality problems. After buyers receive such products, the probability of leaving negative reviews will increase, and negative reviews will lead to a decrease in the listing weight ranking.
The above four points are the impact and consequences of Amazon merchants being hijacked by hijackers. I hope they can help you.
