On December 8, local time, Amazon announced that it will start offering a short video service "Amazon Inspire" (hereinafter referred to as "Inspire") that can be viewed in mobile applications in the United States in December.
Inspire is a "shopping feed" that can be viewed within the Amazon Shopping app. Users can scroll through images and videos personalized according to their set interests and interests. Applies to mobile apps only.
Pictures and videos explain the product and, if interested, a few clicks show the price and overview of the product and make it available for purchase on Amazon.
How to get started with Inspire?
Getting started with Inspire is simple. You open up the Amazon shopping app, tap the "lightbulb" icon on the bottom navigation bar, select your favorite interest, and you're ready to start scrolling. To get all reviews for a product, click on its thumbnail. If you don't see the "lightbulb" icon, keep an eye on the app as it will appear for all U.S. customers in the coming months. Currently Inspire is only available when using the Amazon shopping app.
To start using Inspire, customers need to open the Amazon shopping app and tap on the Inspire icon. At launch, they'll be prompted to choose from more than 20 interests, including makeup, skincare, pets, gaming, plants, hiking, interior design, travel, running, and more, to personalize their Inspire feed.
While Inspire focuses on short-form video content, it also offers support for photos, making it a hybrid of TikTok and Instagram. Like Instagram, you can double-tap anywhere on the screen to like a content with a red heart. However, your experience of scrolling through Inspire is much like using TikTok's vertical video feed, with swiping up from the bottom to see the next video. Like TikTok, the Engage button is located on the right side of the screen.
When you see something you like, you can click the little button at the bottom of the window to link to the product on Amazon. At first, tapping these buttons will bring up the product in an overlay window above the video, but tapping "see all details" will take you to the product's product page, where you can read more, make a purchase, or Add it to the list.
Over time, Amazon says the feed will get better customized as Inspire learns more about your users' interests by tracking their engagement and likes. Longer term, Amazon plans to add more shoppable features to Inspire, as well as additional in-app features and content to further refine the product.
Brands can post on Inspire, including vendors and sellers with active brand stores registered with Brand Registry, Amazon said. Amazon has long taken a popular form of social media to attract shoppers and encourage purchases.
