Amazon US UL certification Japan PSE report METI Canada CSA audit SOR Australia testing necessary?

Amazon US station compliance series UL test report UL test report is very simple, go to the domestic third-party laboratory CNAS authorized laboratory to apply for the UL standard test report.

Due to the impact of the epidemic, many products in the United States, especially Amazon in the United States, are becoming more and more strict, and they are required to provide relevant safety inspections. With the continuous improvement of Amazon's strategic position in global commerce, overseas electronic devices continue to flow into the US market through Amazon, and the US has not had mandatory safety inspections for overseas electronic product manufacturers before. Relevant U.S. departments have issued laws specifically targeting e-commerce, requiring Amazon to notify overseas e-commerce sellers selling on Amazon’s platform to provide relevant safety reports. Before submitting a UL-standard test report, Amazon must order merchants to stop selling. And it is required that the test report must be a qualified report issued by a laboratory accredited by the /ILAC ISO 17025 standard.

1. What is the difference between Amazon UL test report and UL certification?

1. UL test report: After the product is tested and qualified according to the corresponding UL standard, a qualified test report is issued. (UL test report is for Amazon)

2. UL certification: UL certification is a voluntary application, which is a certification with a relatively high global recognition. If a company applies for UL certification, the product can be improved by a grade. UL certification is divided into two categories: R type, L type. However, it is also difficult to apply for UL certification. UL certification requires four audits every year, one for each spring, summer, autumn and winter, which is expensive, time-consuming, and has strict requirements on factories.

3. The UL test report is to issue a qualified test report after selecting the corresponding UL standard for the product to pass the test.

4. UL certification requires testing products and auditing factories, auditing once a quarter, which is expensive and time-consuming.

2. What is the process for handling UL test report?

Make an application—Fill in the application form—Provide instructions and technical documents—Determine test standards and test items—Provide samples—Test—Report

3. How much does the UL test report cost?

The specific cost depends on the specific product function. The test items of different products are different, so the cost is also different.

4. How long does it take to process the UL test report cycle?

According to different products, different testing standards and projects, the cycle is also different

5. How long is the validity period of the UL test report?

The UL test report is valid for a long time unless the US UL test standard used is updated.

Introduction to PSE Certification

Japan's newly promulgated "Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Regulations" to replace the original Electric Appliances Banning Law is very complicated. Take mobile phone chargers as an example:
According to this regulation, mobile phone chargers are Class A products, and Class A products must be tested by a laboratory authorized by the Japanese government and managed by METI. Such laboratories such as: JQA, LET, UL Apex, non-Japanese laboratories such as UL are also authorized laboratories for this type of products (by battery chargers and AC adapters). There are currently no Japanese-authorized laboratories in China. Therefore, enterprises applying for PSE certification should first select a laboratory authorized by Japan and obtain a test report issued by the laboratory to prove that the product meets the technical requirements of Japan.
Japan has two sets of technical requirements for battery chargers, and customers can choose at will:
The first is a very traditional Japanese technical requirement
The second is the technical requirements that are harmonized with IEC609502nd+A4
It is recommended that Chinese customers choose the second one. In this way, since China and Japan are both members of IECEE-CB, customers can first obtain CB reports from CQC in China, and then apply to the above laboratories in Japan for transfer of CB reports. If Method 1 is used, CB reports cannot be accepted.
If the product is designed to meet the second method, that is, to meet the IEC60950 standard, all safety components of the primary circuit, such as capacitors, thermal releases, etc., must meet the international IEC standard. If the product is designed to meet the first way, that is, to meet the Japanese national standard, all these safety components of the primary circuit must meet the Japanese national standard. It should be noted that if option 1 is selected, CB reports will not be accepted. Mixing of Mode 1 and Mode 2 is also not allowed.

According to Health Canada's recall notice, the Nebulous Stars Mini Charm Sets sold in 8 different styles, including 7 charms and a bracelet for assembly, are recalled. Product number: 11555 , 11556, 11557, 11558, 11559, 11560, 11561 and 11562, with a total of 1,872 units sold across Canada between January 2020 and March 2021.

Sampling and evaluation by Health Canada determined that the recalled jewelry contained cadmium in excess of allowable limits.

On March 18, 2021, Health Canada announced a recall of this Chinese-made necklace. This product contains excessive amounts of "cadmium" that seriously exceed the safety standards required by Canadian law. The recalled products were sold in Canada from July 2018 to March 2021, involving approximately 1,291 recalled products.

Violating Amazon's policy on selling children's jewelry in Canada may result in, but is not limited to, the following consequences:

·Cancel product information

· Suspend sales rights

·Cancel sales authority

These potential consequences are in addition to, but not limited to, consequences in any agreement between Amazon and a selling partner. Amazon reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, the appropriateness of a product listing.
