Amazon launches same-day delivery in Australia, challenging local retailers!

Amazon has been in Australia for almost five years. Amazon 's revenue in Australia has surged during the pandemic . In 2021 , Amazon's revenue in the Australian market is as high as $ 1.75 billion, a record high.

In order to continue this momentum, Amazon has turned its attention to the e-commerce distribution link , although Amazon has been deploying logistics distribution.

According to foreign media reports, Amazon Australia recently announced that it will provide free one-day delivery service for Prime members in Melbourne and Sydney, and Prime users in the two regions will be able to receive the goods the same day or the next morning after placing the order.

To achieve same-day delivery, Amazon has invested $ 500 million in its recently opened robotic fulfillment centre in Sydney's west, which spans 200,000 square metres. Products leave the factory and can reach 80% of customers within 12 hours.

With this expansion, Amazon now has six fulfillment centers with double the capacity for smaller items. The expanded fulfillment network will support more Australian SMEs using FBA fulfillment services, providing seamless service to customers across Australia.

It is worth noting that earlier, Australian local supermarket giant Woolworths also announced that it will provide one-hour delivery services for grocery shoppers through its Metro60 app; Coles and Woolworths also launched daily necessities shopping sites.

Amazon's membership fees have remained steady in an effort to attract more shoppers as rivals expand their marketplaces.

Affected by inflation, Australians are living under increasing stress and buying behaviour has changed, mainly focusing on food and groceries. Amazon's move is to capture more share of the Australian grocery market.

According to Xingqihang, due to the low population density in Australia and the high cost of last-mile delivery, local consumers in Australia have always wanted to have the same-day delivery service.
