In 2002, the EU passed two directives that have a significant impact on electrical and electronic equipment: one is the WEEE directive (on waste electrical and electronic equipment), and the other is the RoHS directive (on the prohibition of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment). ).
In 2005, the ElektroG regulation (Electrical and Electronic Regulations) based on the WEEE Directive came into effect in Germany. According to this regulation, manufacturers or importers of electrical and electronic products must complete the registration of their respective products.
The German station WEEE registration is mainly for one category of products.
The German ElektroG regulations divide electrical appliances into the following six categories:
1. Heat exchanger
2. Display devices for private households
3. Lamp/Charging and discharging gas lamp
4. Large electronic equipment (over 50cm)
5. Small electrical and electronic equipment
6. Small IT and telecommunications equipment
