What is EN 71 testing and certification
EN71 is the normative standard for toy products in the EU market. Children are the most cared and cherished group in the whole society. The toy market that children generally love is developing rapidly. At the same time, various kinds of toys also cause harm to children due to various quality problems . security requirements are becoming increasingly stringent. Many countries and regions have established their own safety standard requirements for these products, and manufacturing companies must ensure that their products meet the relevant standards before they are sold in the region.
As a result , the toy safety law EN71 was launched in Europe .
Jietong Testing Co., Ltd. has more than ten years of experience in EN71 toy testing services, and can provide professional EN71 testing services, as well as EN71 testing technical guidance and EN71 regulatory consultation, to help your products enter the European market smoothly.

(b) Pile fabric or material pile fabric or pile material
(c) Flash Point Liquid Flash Point Test
3. EN 71-3: Toxic Elements Test (19 heavy metal tests )
Toy materials are divided into the following three categories according to the degree to which children may ingest (see Table 1 for details):
Category 1 – Dry, brittle, powdered or pliable toy materials
Category 2 – Liquid and Viscous Toy Materials
Category 3 – Toy materials that can be scraped off
– The test object includes 19 chemical elements (including trivalent chromium and hexavalent chromium, organotin and tin elements are counted separately, so it can also be said to be 17 elements).
-Retain the original 8 elements (chromium, which is divided into two different valence states mentioned above), plus another 9 different elements.
– Lowered the migration limit for most elements. (See Table 2 for details)
– The migration limit for barium in the latest EN71-3 standard is even lower than the directive.
– The migration limit of hexavalent chromium in toy materials of categories 1 and 2 is too low to be detected by the test method of EN71-3:2013, therefore, compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by other methods.
– The new standard removes the application of analytical correction factors.
– In the previous version, only the analytical results corrected by the analytical correction factor could be used to judge the conformity of the product. That is to say, the analysis result of the toy material must be corrected by the analysis correction factor and still exceed the limit value, in order to be regarded as non-conforming.
– The new standard requires laboratories to assess the compliance of test materials with their own uncertainty.
– If the laboratory's measurement uncertainty is less than the analytical correction factor of the previous version, the chemical analysis will no longer appear as the test results in the previous version were significantly higher than the regulatory limit, due to the correction of the analytical correction factor A conclusion that meets the requirements.

Paraphrase | Powdered material released from solid toy material during play. | Liquid or sticky toy materials that can be ingested and/or exposed to skin hazards. | Solid toy material that is ingested into the body by biting, tearing with teeth, sucking or licking. |
Example | Compressed paint flakes, colored pencil leads, chalk, crayons, plasticine | Watercolor paints, paints, varnishes, inks, glues, foam solutions for finger painting | Surface coating film (paint, varnish, ink, etc.), plastic, rubber, silicone and other polymer materials, paper materials, textiles, glass, ceramics, metal materials |
Children's assumed daily intake | 100 mg / day | 400 mg / day | 8 mg / day |
