Amazon's new site in India bursts with vitality and revenue grows rapidly

As a new site, Amazon India site is a young site compared with sites in Europe and the United States. But this new-generation site is bursting with vitality. According to Amazon’s official data, the overall revenue of Amazon’s India station in fiscal 2022 increased by 32% from fiscal 2021 to 216.33 billion rupees, compared with 163.78 billion rupees in the same period last year.

The current rise of India as a booming mobile economy reflects the time Indians spend on mobile apps. According to a new report released by APPAnnie, Indians spend an average of nearly 5 hours a day (4.8) on apps in Q3 2021, up from 4.6 hours in 2020. It is second only to Indonesia (5.5), Brazil (5.4) and South Korea (5).

With such a high proportion of mobile terminals, the number of people shopping online is increasing year by year. According to statistics, 130 million people in India will participate in online shopping in 2020. With the development of various aspects of cross-border e-commerce, online shopping has become one of the shopping methods for Indians.

The consumption level and buying habits of Indian consumers have yet to be discovered. Consumers' shopping habits are more inclined to choose high-quality and inexpensive products, and they are still in the transformation period of demand optimization. Cost-effectiveness is the first consideration for Indian consumers, and in the necessities of life, they will pursue the secondary improvement of cost-effectiveness in the first choice at lower prices, while deeper consumer demand still needs to be developed.

In order to help the development of the new site, Amazon has given preferential policies to sellers who have registered for the India site. According to foreign media reports, on September 12, Amazon India announced that it will waive 50% of sales fees for new sellers during the festival. This offer is available to sellers who registered on Amazon India between August 28 and October 26 and launched their business within 90 days of registration. Sellers who want to be an Indian site can start preparing to open a store now.
