According to Xingqihang, recently, Amazon announced that its large-scale distribution center in San Salvo, Italy was officially put into use, which is the company's 10th distribution center in Italy.

It is reported that the distribution center is equipped with advanced Amazon robotics technology, which can improve the sorting efficiency of goods and reduce the chance of employee injury; it is also equipped with solar panels to continuously operate electric vehicle charging stations. Amazon's goal is that by 2025 , to achieve zero carbon emissions.
The first batch of hundreds of workers has already started working at the distribution center. Amazon said it will hire 1,000 more permanent employees over the next three years. From October 1, 2021, Amazon has increased the starting salary of employees from 1,550 euros to 1,680 euros per month, which is 8% higher than the minimum wage set by Italy.
Amazon has invested heavily in Italy over the past decade, said Lorenzo Barbo, Amazon's head of logistics in Italy. As of now, Amazon has more than 14,000 permanent employees in Italy, of which more than 1,200 people under the age of 24 work for Amazon, with an average age of 34. 8% of employees are over 50 years old, with the oldest employee at 64.
By the end of the year, Amazon plans to add another 3,000 employees across 60 locations across the country. It is reported that the positions recruited include Amazon seller service managers, EU seller experience (SX) project managers, 3P operations managers, and personnel engaged in software development, marketing, financial or future technology research, cargo sorting and transportation.
Previously, Amazon also signed a cooperation agreement with the regional government of Abruzzo, the two parties will support the development of local small and medium-sized enterprises through digital promotion and training activities, help them achieve digital transformation and sell internationally, thus further promoting the "Made in Italy" "product.
